What could be more of a getaway from the urban lifestyle than a trip backpacking and hiking through Vermilion National Monument, in Arizona? Protected by the state of Arizona and by the Bureau of Land Management, this national monument was designated to conserve the geological treasures of Paria Plateau, Vermilion Cliffs, Coyote Buttes, and Paria Canyon. The 294,000-acre monument is one of the largest such monuments in the U.S., seeking as it does to conserve several geological sites all in one park. Visitors to the park enjoy towering cliffs, deep canyons, seasonal pools, rivers, and occasional oases. Anderson Design Group handcrafted vintage travel poster art of the park, a fitting rendition of two hikers exploring through the canyons and stone formations common to this region.
